Gothic Noir
Asymmetric stoneware vase with a dark attitude and a fat belly giving a nod to the black and white tiled floors found in churches and cathedrals, symbolising good and evil. Little crosses decorate the edges and the gnarly sprig to one side adds a sense of drama. Interesting too that the manganese oxide contained in the black clay has reacted with the crackle glaze I used on the sprig to add texture. I love it.
High fired for a fully vitrified finish/non-porous finish.
Diameter 13.5 cm base
Height approx 13 cm
