Pair of Stoneware Stacking Jars
Hand formed jars using speckled grey clay. The stacking jar is a Japanese style of storage for kitchen (spices, teas, salt, garlic) or boudoir (rings, earrings, beads, bangles). You might have another idea yourself of how to purpose these lovely jars.
I have used my favourite wax resist method of glazing where I have waxed in the areas where I want the natural, unglazed clay to be visible and this method allows the glaze to only pick up on the unwaxed areas. I've used an under-staged transluscent lavender glaze for the striped areas and a yellow Celadon glaze inside and in the footwell of each bowl. Not only can you see the unglazed areas of natural clay, you can also see the speckles of the clay showing through the transluscent glazes I have used.
Food and dishwasher safe.
