Violet Vessel

Stoneware hand-moulded pot using sodium silicate over a violet ground and then handstretched to create a crackled surface.  This gives it an instant 'just dug-up' look.  

Textured border and lugs have been decorated with copper oxide to settle in the cracks and applied at different thicknesses for a very interesting end result.  This gives a lovely metallic sheen which is pure alchemy and it really does look quite ancient.

The inside has been finished with a soft, satin matt violet glaze with a satin matt transparent glaze over the exterior to seal.  

The complex nature of this decorating technique makes it a very unique piece and this is reflected in the price.

Food and dishwasher safe.

While every care is taken to pack well, the fragility of ceramics does mean that breakages can occur in transit.  For this reason, I am more than happy for you to collect in person from my studio in SW London (Southfields/Wimbledon).  Just let me know before purchase.  If you decide to pick up, make your purchase and I will refund the postage once you collect.

 

Returns are accepted but at the buyer's expense and a refund will only be made once it has arrived back in perfect condition.  I cannot refund if the item arrives broken.  Always talk to me first because if there is a problem we may be able to resolve it to save making the return.
