Juicy Orange Stoneware Bowl

Moulded shallow bowl with undulating rim using a speckled grey stoneware clay.   The juicy orange glaze becomes transluscent over this clay and allows the speckles in the clay to shine through beautifully.

 

I have left areas unglazed as you can see on the rim border (inside and out) and on the foot ring.  To achieve this I have painted wax in a stripy pattern around the border where I want the natural clay to show.  Then I've painted over with orange glaze which is picked up only in the areas that have not been waxed.  This is called the wax resist method of applying glazes.

 

Food and dishwasher safe.

While every care is taken to pack well, the fragility of ceramics does mean that breakages can occur in transit.  For this reason, I am more than happy for you to collect in person from my studio in SW London (Southfields/Wimbledon).  Just let me know before purchase.

 

Returns are accepted but at the buyer's expense and a refund will only be made once it has arrived back in perfect condition.  I cannot refund if the item arrives broken.  Always talk to me first because if there is a problem we may be able to resolve it to save making the return.
