Copper Oxide Vessel

Stoneware, hand moulded and pinched with extra coils to form a moon jar shape.  Texture has been added at the neck in the form of a collar and the ruffled detail gives the impression of a handle and the appearance of being a jug.   But its not a jug!  The texture was created using a twig covered in dry lichen that I pressed into the leather-hard clay.

Glazed in soft white satin matt (my favourite) over which I created circles of differing sizes using wax and then washed over with a strong mixture of copper oxide.  The oxide, which was a thick mix, has fluxed with the white glaze to give a blurred outline to the marks.  It's a look I like.

While every care is taken to pack well, the fragility of ceramics does mean that breakages can occur in transit.  For this reason, I am more than happy for you to collect in person from my studio in SW London (Southfields/Wimbledon).  Just let me know before purchase.

 

Returns are accepted but at the buyer's expense and a refund will only be made once it has arrived back in perfect condition.  I cannot refund if the item arrives broken.  Always talk to me first because if there is a problem we may be able to resolve it to save making the return.
