Soda Glazed Vessel by Ruthanne Tudball
Original, hand made fat bottle vase made by renowned, UK based American ceramic artist Ruthanne Tudball.
Ruth is one of the foremost potters in the UK, pioneering the soda glazing technique. I'm not certain exactly how this piece has been made/glazed but I can tell, with my small knowledge, that she has used dripping slips over a dark clay body with probably added oxides (manganese, iron and cobalt) to produce a deep bluish black finish which can be seen on the rim and within the main body. It has a shiny glaze over the whole body. Its gorgeous!
It's hard to photograph on the dark clay body, but on the foot there is her stamp so it is a genuine piece.
Her work commands high prices and I have priced this piece competitively. It's happily living on my mantlepiece at the moment but it could just as easily be sitting on yours!
Height 30cm
Diameter at fattest part of belly and at the base approx. 13 cm
Its pretty heavy at 2kilos without its packaging so the price of postage is reflected in the weight.
While every care is taken to pack well, the fragility of ceramics does mean that breakages can occur in transit. For this reason, I am more than happy for you to collect in person from my studio in SW London (Southfields/Wimbledon). Just let me know before purchase.
Returns are accepted but at the buyer's expense and a refund will only be made once it has arrived back in perfect condition. I cannot refund if the item arrives broken. Always talk to me first because if there is a problem we may be able to resolve it to save making the return.
Postage is based on weight and is calculated at checkout. Price is based on delivery to mainland UK only. For other destinations, including worldwide, please contact me BEFORE purchase so I can give you a postage quote.
Thanks for Looking.
