Textured Pagan Bowl

Textured black clay bowl with added texture. 

Using slips, stains and copper oxide daubed over the main body and more heavily on the textured border.  All left raw and unglazed for a natural finish. 

 

Due to the heavy texture, use of copper oxide and the black clay body itself, this piece is not suitable for food. 

 

However, it makes a brilliant smudging bowl.  In fact, anyone purchasing this piece will receive a free white sage smudging stick.  Light the sacred white sage stick and let it smoulder while you waft it around the house to clear negativity and to promote positive energy, balance and clarity.  See video here.  It smells lovely too in a burned wood sort of way.  Try it!  

By the way - the right-handed spiral in the centre of the bowl symbolises spirituality which is quite apt.

 

Another great use would be to fill it with candle sand and pop a trio of wicks into the sand for a quick and easy, homemade candle centrepiece.

 

Any holes or cracks in the body are integral to the design of the piece. Its the natural result of how I stretch the clay and I do not try to patch up or cover over any natural flaws, which makes each piece unique and one off.
