Nude Talking on the Telephone - Original Oil on Canvass
Original, signed oil on canvass by 20th Century artist Dirk (Derek?) Fowler depicting a pretty woman standing naked by a fireplace talking on the telephone.
This is an old painting and has been knocked about a bit around the edges and there is a tear on her breast which I've shown in the image which has been taped on the reverse. It just adds to the vintage of the picture and only enhances the piece with a sense of age.
Juding by the style of the phone I'd say this was late 1950-1960. Also there is a sling-back shoe in the picture similar to a pair my sister had in the late 1950's/early 1960's. I'm not an art expert I just.
I purchased this picture from the estate of the late Eileen Bullerwell who was a Putney resident (like me). I believe she had a connection with the Putney School of Art & Design (like me) who, after her death, held an exhibition of all the works she owned from her estate.
Size: 25 cm wide x 68 cm high
