A collection of new studio pottery & other vintage hand-made finds
This section of my site I call my TESTING KITCHEN because making hand-made (not thrown) ceramics is very similar to baking - it involves using a bowl for use as a mould and a wooden kitchen spatular for shaping the clay as well as rolling pins of various thicknesses and lengths and even biscuit cutters at times. Sieves are always handy as are kitchen scales, a whisk and an icing bag and, oh yes, a very hot oven!! In fact, a visit to Lakeland kitchen shop can be as useful as an artist supply shop for finding inspiration for tools to help create my work.

I have been experimenting with ideas for ceramics for a number of years now and along the way I have made pieces that haven't always worked for me in terms of not representing the look I am striving to achieve. Many of these pieces have never been for sale for whatever reason and yet they are all perfectly serviceable and indeed some are even 100% faultless. Some of the glazing on the earlier pieces is, I have to say, extremely good.

I've put very reasonable prices on all these pieces as this is a sale of old stock and I need to find space in my very small studio to store my more recent works until they sell. Sometimes the Kiln gods can be annoyingly against you and this means that the glaze may crawl (pull away from the clay body), or a crack may appear that wasn't there before. I will point out in the description if there is a flaw. Otherwise you can expect a 100% perfect piece of pottery.
