Testing Kitchen

COMING SOON .......
I'm calling this section my TESTING KITCHEN because making hand-made ceramics is a very similar process to baking - it involves using a bowl for use as a mould and a wooden kitchen spatular for shaping the clay as well as rolling pins of various thicknesses and lengths and even biscuit cutters at times. Sieves are always handy as are kitchen scales, a whisk and an icing bag and, oh yes, a very hot oven!! In fact, a visit to a Lakeland kitchen shop can be a better place to find inspiration for tools to help in the creative process than an artist supply shop. Maybe that's why pottery is considered a craft whereas painting is more of an art!? Discuss!?

I have been experimenting with ideas for ceramics for a number of years now and along the way I have made pieces that haven't always worked in terms of not representing the look I am striving to achieve or maybe there is a blemish or two or the glaze test colour wasn't to my liking. Many of these pieces have never been for sale because I've hung onto them as a reference. They are perfectly serviceable and indeed some are even 100% faultless. Some of the glazing on the earlier pieces is, I have to say, extremely good.

I've put very reasonable prices on all these pieces as this is a sale of old stock that will help clear space in my very small studio to store new and recent works. If there is a flaw I will point this out in the description.
